Origins Skin Products
I recently spent a lot of money on some Origins brand face products.   I used to only use acne products but I'm 21 now and I hardly have any acne so I thought it might be time to upgrade to some higher quality products that aren't just for acne.  I bought the Checks and Balances cleanser, United State toner, Have a Nice Day moisturizer and that white tea guardian.  Well I've been using it for a couple days and my face has broken out a little bit in a couple areas.  It's nothing big--the breakouts are just tiny little bumps but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem with Origins.  Do you think it just might be my face having a reaction to all the new stuff???

Re: Origins Skin Products
I think you should never start using more than one new product at a time so that if something like this happens, you can pinpoint which product is doing it. It is possible you just overwhelmed your skin. I have used the Checks and Balances. I never really had a problem with it, it just didn't do anything special. Maybe try just using the cleanser for a few days and gradually work one more thing in every few days. If you are still breaking out, I'd return it. In my experience, Origins has never been anything special. But I also have very finicky skin so I may not be the best person to judge.

Well, I just went today and returned the Checks and Balances cleanser.  Luckily I was able to even though I had already used to.  And, just as a warning to anyone thinking about using it--it might make you break out!  I do really like all the other stuff I got from there though.  Smile [:)]

Don't try the Depuffery gel- I tried it because I couldn't find my regular eye gel, and this was terrible. Didn't do anything or feel cooling on. You can't put it in the fridge either cause the ingredients won't do well.

Just curious - what type of eye gel do you use normally?

Re: Origins Skin Products

So. Has anyone declared "success" with anything from Origins Skincare?  I just want to know whether or not I should put this store on my s h i t list or not. Wink [;)]

None of the other stuff I bought made my skin break out...I really like the acne spot remover (it dries up pimples really fast) and the white tea skin guaradian.  And I have their knot free shampoo and happy endings conditioner.  The conditioner has kept my ends from splitting and I chi my hair pretty frequently.  And of course, their paradise found lotion smells amazing.  I think they have good body products but their facial products are so-so.

Elderflower eye gel from the Body Shop. I've been using it since I was like 12 or 13. I love it. It feels cool on and seems to suck the skin around the eye back into shape- sound gross but that's the best way I can describe it. It's also non irritating to the eye area which is hard to find. For a few months I couldn't find it in the stores or online, and I was desperate. If you're looking for one you should try it- it's onlly $8 too. You can keep it in the fridge. I even put it on my husband, and he likes it.

That sounds nice. I need to find an eye gel- I seem to get irritated by everything except DDF which has been having insane stocking problems (i.e no sunscreen moisturizer at Sephora, Sephora online, or Nordstrom in my area for 6 months)- it stunk.

Any gentle eye gels that people find good for sensitive skin? Even Caudale my skin won't cooperate with for more than a day or two.

My skin is very sensitive as well, and the Elderflower eye gel from the Body Shop has never bothered me.  Also the green, avocado based eye cream from Kiehls has never given me a bad reaction, but it's not a gel. Just a good moisturizing cream.

Re: Origins Skin Products
fairy, thanks so much for the recs. I haven't tried Kiehl's yet, was a bit put off when they were acquired by L'Oreal but I read in Business week at the time that they were to be managed independently. Funny that now Body Shop has been acquired by them too- wouldn't have imagined that one.

Remember the days when we were all happy with a $1.99 bottle of Noxema and had beautiful skin?

Re: Origins Skin Products

Masks are supposed to bring out all the impurities in your face and can make you break out the first time you use them.

I like Origin's Clear Improvement charcoal mask.

Re: Origins Skin Products

This summer I bought the checks and balances face wash and the balanced diet moisturizer. I really like them but I didn't notice any dramatic changes right away. It's the kind of product that changes your skin slowly but surely.
