We've been seeing eachother for like, 2 months now. Last night he dropped a HUGE bomb on me ... He's a model, and he did Milans Fashion Week last year, and is doing it again this year. I couldn't have been more SURPRISED ..... but then again, I should've known from his good looks. Anyways, he showed me pictures *I drooled a little* and now I'm just like ... in SHOCK! What do I do? This guy is like, a big deal. He's very down to earth, not cocky at all, and all this great stuff ... but really, I'm just SHOCKED by it all. I have pics of him on the runway and just chilling with his boys if you ladies would like to see ... but yeah, what do I do? I look at him COMPLETELY differently now *in a GREAT way* but I'm not COMFORTABLE around him now .... I have no clue why! 01-30-2007, 5:30 PM IrresistableStitch Joined on 01-12-2006 San Francisco - East Bay Rank NA Re: So ... been there with my boyfriend of the last 5 years... it was hard for me to deal with knowing his past when we first started hooking up.  my situation was a bit different- it was brought to my attention within the first 2 days of meeting him. so i immediately felt as if I didn't have a chance...or even if I did, it was just a fluke.  i believe his friends exact words were: he is a genius (doctors said so), he modeled for gucci, and his ex had her own month in a certain publication that features women with little to no clothing. it tripped me out for the better part of our first 6 months together. it definately made my self-confidence tweek out. the only tip I really have (i have been with dude now for just about 5 years) is don't let him see you sweat about it.  just be yourself, and when you feel your emotions / self confidence are getting the best of you...just write down your feelings or express them to close friends.  but you really shouldn't let him see your insecurity, or lack of feeling comfortable around him, because that will make HIM feel uncomfortable. be as nonchalant as you can about it when you are around him...but maybe when you are with your girlfriends, or talking with your mom, express all your concerns to them. he obviously likes you...so just focus on that don't focus on all the reasons why he shouldn't like you or things like that.  just know that it has to be hard for him as well when girls find out what he does for a living.  break the mold, be cool and be a girlfriend, not a fan.   p.s being a model isn't THAT big of a deal either (not to be rude...).  maybe if he was like- a nobel prize winner, Prince William, Johnny Depp or Bill Gates, i would say big deal, but models come and go...and after a few years he will just be another pretty face that once graced the runways...         I want my everyday to be a holiday!    Report

Yeah that IS a bomb.  A fabulous bomb. hehe    Dont focus on what he does, just focus on HIM.  Pretend he works at Amoco or something.  Something totally beneath you. hahaa  That way you can be ultraconfident around him. Its so much better to never lose it, than to lose it and get it back--you can always tell the difference. With that said, most people never get it back, so if you get it back after you lost it, thats better than losing it forever.    Report

But don't sweat it. I was dating this HOT doctor a few years ago (he overlapped my husband:). When we were out bowling last night *yes, we're THAT cool* I realized ... hey, he's NORMAL. We were both struggling to keep the ball in the lane, and all that fun stuff. That's when I was like, okay so he's not like GOD! lol. He asked me later on if the whole 'MODEL' thing shocked me and I was like ermmm yes! Then he laughed and said, at least I know you didn't GOOGLE me when we first started dating so that's a plus lol. That's the BEST part ... he basically asked me if we were at the 'exclusive level' ... I was like ... YES! haha I'm extremely happy sorry if I'm babbling. The only creepy part is that he wore a white dress shirt, tie, AND a suit jacket with jeans KNOWING we weren't going anywhere special.
