The tourists give you funny or sorry looks when they see you walking down Elgin in stilletto heels over snow and ice.   The real Ottawaians (?) don't give a damn.   I want to be like "Don't worry, the numbing cold takes away the pain from my toes being stuffed into pointies!" to all the people who give me looks of concern. I ALWAYS go out dressed to impress ... even if it means being in a mini dress with stilettos and no jacket when it's -15 degrees outside WITHOUT the windchill in downtown Toronto*and yes, this WAS Friday night* I froze my ass off ... but really ... it was all in the name of fashion. I looked awesome, and you know ... the alcohol I later consumed helped me warm up. People that decide to stare, or better yet ... MAKE COMMENTS ... really, they just ASK for me to freak on them. Clearly they know I HAVE the option of wearing pants, boots, and a winter jacket like them ... but I'd rather look fabulous than keep warm. Plus, it's good for my toleration of the cold. These days I can be outside in negative 15 degree weather in a sweater and a pair of pants, and I'll be fine. Probably since every part of my body is being covered ... Haha, reminds me of the days of being 18 and walking home (across the bridge over the Ottawa River) from Hull, Quebec because we could drink there but not in Ontario. I remember venturing off to Hull at LEAST twice a month *it's a good 5 hour drive for us ...* and it would be the best times ever. We'd leave here at 4 in the afternoon, get there by 9 ... predrink ... then go clubbing. We'd then leave around 3 am and be back at 8 in the morning. Those were the days ... they were only 2 years ago ... but still, I miss those days! lol. I think clubbing is more fun when it's not 'legal' for you to do it yet. There's either Le Bop, Le Bistro, or Le Cosmo...ahh I hated Cosmos after a while!  Sometimes we'd venture into Gatineau but when we accidently walked into a seperatist club, we stopped.   There definatly is something more fun about fake IDs but I do love not having to worry or try to memorize my fake's postal code and star sign and ***! Thats funny, Id think it'd be just the opposite.  The tourists should be the ones wearing pointies in 4-inches of snow, and the locals should be wearing flats and 'not giving a damn'! lolol Its so much better to never lose it, than to lose it and get it back--you can always tell the difference. With that said, most people never get it back, so if you get it back after you lost it, thats better than losing it forever.    Report

Appararently the new one (Club 426) is supposed to be really good but I refuse to go to any clubs in Quebec after turning 19.   Only if it's Montreal or maybe Quebec City.   I haven't been clubbing in Toronto for a bit...the last time I was in the GTA I wanted to go downtown but we ended up in some shithole in Burlington. I was in Torontos entertainment district on Friday ... and OH MAN! I absolutely love the clubs there. I never have to spend a dollar when I go out. No cover, no drinks .... the guys all buy drinks for me, and the bouncers don't make me pay cover. If you go to a stupid bar in a smaller city they act as if they're too good to let you in without cover, and they would NEVER let you jump the line. Oh ahaha .... that was just a random rant. If you DO come to Toronto I would suggest This is London ... that's my favorite nightclub, and one of Toronto's 'best'. I'll have to check it out, although I'm not much of a Leafs fan.   One of them is from my hometown and is a bit of an ass from what I've heard (his best friend had a thing for me a few years ago so I got all the good stories).   What kind of club would you say it is??   If you're ever in Ottawa let me know what you like and I'll have a huge list for you.  I work for a company that plans party events at clubs in Ottawa so I get VIP everywhere...I'll hook you up for sure. I'd say This is London is more of a mature crowd ... not many younger people go there *mostly because it's usually 23 PLUS for men and 21 PLUS for women* but it's not like a club with cougars and all that. The music varies depending on the night, but usually it's top 40, and sometimes they'll have old school euro. Japanese tourists are the WORST though!  In Niagara Falls I usually had a dance competition in November which is one of their breaks so there were so many.  They were so used to just shoving their way through subways and everything that they just knocked my three year old sister over in the elevator. Then when I was in Kananaskis, Alberta (Rocky Mountains) riding a horse on the trails, this family all clad in cowboy hats and boots, kept asking me if I was a real Canadian. I used to live in San Francisco and the biggest joke was when the tourists would show up in shorts and a t-shirt. I mean, yes, it is California, but SF is soo cold all the time with the ocean nearby and the fog! We'd always point and laugh at the tourists standing there freezing!
