Are there any stores etc that have Pottery Barn-esque furniture but on a cheaper budget?  post away.

Re: cheaper alternatives to Pottery Barn
Wherever you are, there's bound to be SOME furniture place that is offering huge discounts.  The housing market has tanked lately, and nobody is buying housefuls of goodies.  There are also regional equivalents (out here it's Jackalope) that import inexpensive but quirky stuff.  And (except for upholstered furniture, try yard sale/flea market venues.  I got some major furniture at Brimfield flea (MA).

try ikea, or target.  I agree with emery about the flea markets, or even estate sales.  Also, search craigslist, sometimes there are some gems on there.

JC Penny's has some pretty decent furniture, some of which is Pottery Barn-esque.   They have some of their furniture on their website.

some of the accessories and ecor at Z Gallerie and West Elm are very reasonable.  I also agree with Target and the home section at TJ Maxx, Marshalls or Home Goods.
