Birth Control---Long term effects?

Hi ladies,
O need some serious advice. I was always a little weary about birth control. Pumping my body full of hormones just never seemed right. I was on in for about a 1 1/2 and felt horrible (most notible terrible mood swings). I have also heard some things recently about long term affects of being on bc, specifically it being linked to cancer. I have since gone off and have been off for about 1 1/2 years. My issue with all of this is that I have a bf and have for 4 years. We have discussed this and he does not want me to go back on it again because what we have heard about the possible long term affects of it (we just use condoms). Have you ladies heard any of this? What kind of bc are you on? Thank you

i don't think are too many long term affects of bcp. i've been on mine for 5 years (aleese), never have any side effects, mood swings, weight changes, or any other problems with the pill....it reduced my painful cramps and i am so thankful for it everytime that time of the month comes around. my mom has been on bcp for 20 years and she has no complaints about hers and doesn't have any long term affects from it at all. i think you just have to try different ones out and figure out which is best for your body. everyone is different, i think my sister has tried about 3 different kinds and just started a new one to see if it helps with her mood swings differently, i think it's yaz and it's supposed to help. good luck!
