edit #1 amber by meisel. the black hair really turns amber unappealing. in general Im tired of seeing amber/meisel vogue edits. grace styled some very colourful looks, but between the kooky hats & distracting modernist backgrounds, this edit is a snooze when it could have rocked with a better 2007 model. even airbrushed amber is far more miss than hit lately. best looks, kors & maybe prada. really dead start as 1st edit. 4 of 10. all for grace's styling & backgrounds.

edit #3/cover. winona ryder by mcdean. marc jacobs cover actually nice, colours work well. inside wino more of a mess, crazy hair. I loved her circa heathers but really, zero feelings for wino now. mcdean is great shooting models but this is a weak celeb edit & I dont see much more for wino. 4 of 10 aionly for cover & the wino I liked last century.
edit #4 mary heilmann. portrait by liebovitz in bridge h is pretty good. i like the canvasses shown, dodie delivers solid artworld stuff almost evetry time in vogue. the canvases are a big highlight this month. 7.5 of 10 for the art.

edit #5 chanel, lily d & angie lindvall by klein. the studio poses are pretty dumb, more of that gesticulating/vogueing that has hurt most sims edits lately too. lily's good though, still love her. ed enninful edited fall looks, pretty weak group for him. he's better with menswear actually. chanel, cannot abide her, ever. fairer's backstage stuff runs rings around klein here, lara, raquel, val, trentini, but between lily d & the backstages there are at least 4 good pics here. 6.2 of 10.
edit #6 coco by meier. finally a fully realized fashion edit. coc is really paying off lately give the girl credit. meier & santisi are dependable once again, they deserve the bonuses this month- everyone else is out to lunch. I like the pics all the looks on coco espec marni page. in a vogue august ish youve got to get where the gettings good. 7 of 10.
RETRO FAB: norman mailer & norris church 1983 pg 221. love norm's arran jumper.
* pg 223 vanessa redgrave in 1966/67. swinging london rules OK!
* pg 227 susan train in balenciaga drawing 1954- this vogue image from 53 years ago pisses wildly over anything in this entire august issue and that even includes shannan & a panda by klein. lets see MORE 40s/50s/60s retro vogue stuff ok, angie, chanel & winona are not cutting it, ya hear??!!
* pg 231 connie wald & audrey hepburn in switzerland, 1967. a very very nice time to be alive
VERDICT: the age & shape issues yearly are 2 of the worst vogues. this was especially poor. amber & meisel snoozy dull. the winona cover was cute enough but the mcdean edit was still frizzy & unnecessary. the core edit with angie chanel & lily was poor except for lily, and ed let us down with the looks too. when fairer's show pics shine over a klein studio shoot its not good. coco/meier/santisi had the only reallty good fashion edit. lauren's delevigne social thing aws ok, lets see more lauren & co. dodie's art stuff always welcome. best pic this month was klein/shannan/panda, the way it stood out showed the weakness otherwise. and the retro stuff noted above from 1950s/60s looks best of all - a very bad sign for vogue summer 2007. its ok sept will be a better month. lord knows we need it . TWO THUMBS DOWN.
