Edit #1: kate moss by mert/marcus. theres a cool kind of voodoo & buddha suggestion to these. basically, kate/M&M in W have done some of the best edits of this century. the b&ws here try for a roversi type of mystique but I think they miss a bit, and the curly blonde buckwheat hair doesnt help. the colour pics are better, impressionistic & I daresay M&M can teach mcginley a few things about colour photography, ooops. sad to say, kate may have jumped the shark. her occasional ad can still register, but after 15 years of being at the top line of any model ever, Im not feeling her here. its a sadness. the weber detroit edit a year ago was so much better than this. 7.3 of ten for the colour snaps & mystique/vibe. edit #2: daria by steven klein. i like it. klein is so schizo. his D&G/shannan edit in W is one of 2007's best. last month his gwynny w/white rat was dumb, yuck. this is great. I Love daria as swim girl! shes not scary skinny ana like she was 3 years ago. she has the proper model body! and klein's colours are great! theres even a distressed, white trash, backyard, puerto rican flag thing here! and karl templer is rocking with sexy mailliots on her. this is so good, klein, daria & templer all at peak, HOTT!!! 8.5 of 10. edit #3 sims shoots sasha, trentini, missy, bridget, valentina, lily d, rhoda, kasia, poly, liya, filppa & more. all in ralph fall looks, very tweedy, navajo. its just perfect for fall. the model casting here is great, some better than others but you know whos good. even the dumb vogue jumping stuff looks better on Ws big pages with alex whites ralph styling. this is a high powered edit & outdoes us vogue like 10 to 1. 8 of 10 edit #4 / cover. cate blanchett by thompson. thompson can do a good fashion edit in w but he didnt do anything here. best is cover in white ralph shirt. so what i wear that too. blanchetts ok on cover wet & on the beach, but inside is dreary portraits. liebovitz & others have done much more with her. very blah. 5.5 of 10 mainly for white ralph cover edit #5 stella mccartney profile with 2 pages of linda mac's pics. Im as big a paul/linda/wings fan as youll ever meet & I LOVE these macca family snaps 9 of 10 for those. VERDICT: just on the basis of daria/klein & sims/models edits this is a heart warming oct ish. linda's stella + family pics equally brill. blanchett another dull actress edit. moss reminded one of her 15 years of better work: still M&M's colour is better than mcginley's kate colour in 2007 W. Im seriously into daria & the sims shoots & thats enough for TWO THUMBS UP.
