09-22-2007, 10:18 PM fashion_bible Joined on 01-03-2006 manhattan nyc uptown Rank NA US VOGUE OCT 2007 Charlize Theron US VOGUE OCT 2007 Charlize Theron EDIT #1: couture with raquel by sims. grace's outfits & the parisian chamber backgrounds are fine but I am turned off by raquel's frizzy wedge white hair. and Im usually a big raquel fan in almost every situation. considering the quality of the clothes & the interiors here its a shame that grace couldnt direct raquel's look to match better. 5 of 10. EDIT #2/COVER: Charlize Theron by testino. a couple of years ago testino shot anopther charlize cover that was a really sensuous story, incl hot black maillot. while CT looks as amazing as ever, and Ive been her fan from day 1, I am disenchanted with testino's approach, in fact he seems to be shooting a lot of sexless stuff for vogue in recent years. quite a contrast to the strong swim type stuff that made his name 5, 10 years ago. the cover is pretty good a throwback to a wholesome 70s/80s cowgirl thing. but compared to last time with CT & testino, this is a bit of a bummer. still love her though. 6.5 of 10 EDIT #3: trentini & sasha by mcdean. the cover says 'flirty furs.' well in 2007 Im not flirting with any dead animals. its sad cos this is actually the best thing in this ish: love sasha & trini,. Im a big fan of mcdean & his studio approach is almost always a winner. but tabitha simmmons styled lots of fur & its unacceptable. if you remove that factor this is a strong studio edit. but with the fur its 5 of 10 at best. SAY NO TO FUR * tabitha also has a style page in View. i like her personal looks a whole lot more than the dead animal furs. EDIT #4 sean penn by weber. the 2 best pics in the mag. 7.5 of 10. EDIT #5 roland mouret & rosamund pike by N J Roy. i like mouret's work & pike is an attractive actress. once again Roy's pics are incompetant. ed eninful's editing is not done justice. 5 of 10 all for pike. EDIT #6 james rosenquist. good portrait by penn. also like the 2 2007 rosenquist's at acquavella. i like the fine art pics in vogue. rosenquist's 60s pieces are best but hes been good in the 40 years since. 7 of 10 * excellent liz peyton on pg 290, the queen mum's funeral, 2002 EDIT #7 coco by meier. even for a back of book shoot this is minor. and meier & santisi gave us good coco in august. some of the winter stuff is ok but really this is a letdwn of a coco/meier/santisi shoot. 4 of 10 INDEX: sweaters on doutz, agy & stammy. Girl of the Moment Agy Deyn. Agy might not be as beautiful as most of the top models this century, but theres no denying her dress sense & style. VERDICT. I suppose anna & co put all their energy into sept ish, but this is really a weak vogue. charlize/testino have done much better in the past. sasha & trini are great but grace gave them dead animals: no good. raquel, coco & the mouret edit were all flat. and the only really good stuff was sean penn/weber & rosenquist. this kind of cover to cover disappointment & sexlessness is exactly what makes me dislike us vogue at least 6 months a year. really weak. TWO THUMBS DOWN "....and she'd over-dosed on magazines.... just fade to grey...."    Report
